The popular video game series ‘Dead Island’ will now become a major motion picture as announced on Friday…
The zombie infested series ‘Dead Island’ is the latest video game to be optioned as a full length feature as announced on Friday as Occupant Entertainment and Deep Silver will partner together to fast track production on the film in 2015.
‘Dead Island’ is based around tropical island resort when the zombie outbreak occurs and of course mayhem ensues shortly thereafter. The game has been an international hit since it was first released in 2011 with a sequel to the game expected to be released in 2015.
The film will also begin production in early 2014 with a writer and director being sought at this time to helm the project.
“Deep Silver has created a highly successful game franchise based on very cinematic, widely viewed and well received trailers, which provide a great template for launching a film franchise with a distinctive and commercial take on the zombie apocalypse”, says Occupant partners Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino.
The plan is to fast track the series to production in the first quarter of 2015 with a release date for the film to be announced once filming begins.
