The first look at “House of the Dragon” season 2 has arrived with a look at the fiery Targaryen civil war with several new cast members announced including Cregan Stark…
There will be fire and blood in “House of the Dragon” season 2 as the “Game of Thrones” prequel moves into the epic Targaryen civil war where everybody’s lives are in danger.
The end of “House of the Dragon” season 1 saw the war first erupt after Rhaenyra Targaryen was denied her claim to the Iron Throne and her half-brother Aegon II Targaryen was crowned the new King in Westeros. Just as the two sides were gathering allies, Rhaenyra sent her sons Jacaerys and Lucerys as envoys to seek out potential help in the coming war. While Jacaerys flew north to eventually meet with Lord Cregan Stark, his younger brother Lucerys was sent to parlay with his relatives the Barratheons at Storm’s End.
Sadly, Aegon II had similar plans and his brother Aemond had already arrived at Storm’s End.
Lord Borros Baratheon declines Rhaenyra’s invitation after Aemond offered one of his daughters a hand in marriage, which gives them a lot more power and influence over Westeros. Rhaenyra would not offer the same since Lucerys was already betrothed to his cousin so Lord Borros sends him packing but refuses to let Aemond harm him while under protection of his house.
As Lucerys attempted to fly through a wicked storm on the back of his young dragon, Aemond pursued the boy on Vhagar — the largest and eldest of all the dragons still alive in Westeros — but a deadly game soon ensues as the dragons begin firing away at each other. In a rage, Vhagar ends up attacking Lucerys’ dragon Arrax, literally biting it in half and sending the beast crashing to the waves below. As a result, Lucerys obviously dies as well much to Aemond’s shock.
It’s safe to say, Lucerys’ death will not only enrage his mother but Rhaenyra will surely seek vengeance on those who not only stole her crown but killed her son as well.
