The new trailer for “Madame Web” has arrived with Dakota Johnson taking on the lead role this time in the latest “Spider-Man” spinoff from Sony…
The next major “Spider-Man” spinoff from Sony will land in theaters next February with “Madame Web” introducing a lesser known character that will be played by “Fifty Shades of Grey” star Dakota Johnson.
The first trailer for the upcoming film was released on Wednesday with Johnson starring alongside “Euphoria” favorite Sydney Sweeney as well as Emma Roberts, Adam Scott, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, and Tahar Rahim.
Here’s the synopsis for the upcoming film due out on Feb. 14, 2024:
“In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.”
In the comics, Madame Web is a clairvoyant and precognitive mutant, who helps Spider-Man locate a missing woman, and she remains an ally while assisting the webslinger over the years.
Obviously, the updated version starring Johnson won’t necessarily have direct ties back to “Spider-Man” but instead she joins a larger spinoff universe that includes past films like “Morbius” starring Jared Leto as well as “Venom” with a third film in that series starring Tom Hardy also due out in 2024.
There’s also the upcoming “Kraven the Hunter” film starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson that will drop in 2024 as well.
For now, take a look at the new “Madame Web” movie and decide if this is one you’ll be swinging to see on opening weekend in 2024.
