The new “Spider-Man: No Way Home” trailer has arrived with further villains from across the multiverse showing up to get revenge on Peter Parker…
The first full length trailer for “Spider-Man: No Way Home” arrived on Tuesday with a much bigger look at all the villains coming from across the multiverse in order to torment Peter Parker.
The teaser trailer that was previously released already revealed Alfred Molina returning as Doctor Octopus following his past appearance in 2004’s “Spider-Man 2” where he was clashing with Tobey Maguire’s version of the webslinger.
Now there’s been a much deeper look at many of the villains gunning for Peter now that he managed to tear a hole in the multiverse after asking Doctor Strange to cast a spell to erase his real identity from everyone’s memory after he was revealed as Spider-Man at the conclusion of “Spider-Man: Far From Home.’
Willem Dafoe will be returning as the Green Goblin after he played the iconic villain in the original “Spider-Man” movie from 2002. Jamie Foxx also appears as Electro after he portrayed that villain in 2014’s “Amazing Spider-Man 2,” which featured Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man.
There were also glimpses of Sandman — who was played by Thomas Haden Church in the oft-criticized “Spider-Man 3” from 2007 — as well as the Lizard — previously portrayed by Rhys Ifans in 2012’s “Amazing Spider-Man.”
Considering that’s five villains, it seems highly likely that another might make an appearance, which would finalize the infamous Sinister Six — a team that often came together in order to take on Spider-Man.
It seems part of the plot twist with this film is that all of the returning villains have died in battle with Peter Parker in the past and Doctor Strange believes killing them might be the only way to stop them this time around as well.
Of course, there was no hint that any past actors who portrayed Spider-Man will appear in the movie, although it seems highly unlikely that Marvel and Sony would reveal such a massive moment from the film in the trailer. Both Maguire and Garfield have denied that they would be appearing in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” but there’s also been a ton of rumors that both were spotted on set filming during production.
During a special screening for the trailer on Tuesday night, current Spider-Man actor Tom Holland promised that as much as the trailer revealed, there’s so much more to come when the film is finally released on December 17.
“Trust me when I say that that is the tip of the iceberg,” Holland teased. “We were there on the day making it happen, and it was crazy — and I would love to tell you. I was like, ‘That’s never going to work. There’s no way you’re going to be able to get that done.’ And they did.”
In addition to the many heroes and villains potentially appearing from throughout the multiverse, there’s also been a longstanding rumor that Charlie Cox might appear as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil, which would see him reprise his role from the hit Netflix series where he starred as the Man Without Fear. Once again, that hasn’t been confirmed but that could be just one of many surprises still to come when “Spider-Man: No Way Home” finally lands in theaters.
For now, take a look at the new trailer and get ready for “Spider-Man: No Way Home” on Dec. 17 with tickets going on sale on Monday, November 29. You can also check out the new poster for the film below:
