The first look at “The Penguin” series starring Colin Farrell has arrived as the first spinoff from Matt Reeves and “The Batman” universe…
With Carmine Falcone gone, Oswald Cobblepot is ready to take over the underworld in Gotham City.
That’s the tease at the center of the new series “The Penguin” starring Colin Farrell as he reprises the role he originated in “The Batman” alongside Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz and Paul Dano. The new series will be executive produced by Matt Reeves, who also directed “The Batman” as he heralds in a new shared universe set in his version of Gotham City.
“The Penguin” is set to debut sometime in 2024 but the first footage from the new series was released on Wednesday.
Now this new series will not exist in the same shared universe that James Gunn is currently orchestrating at DC but instead Reeves’ characters from “The Batman” will all come together under the DC Elseworlds banner instead.
There have already been plans for several other potential spinoffs including one centered around “Arkham Asylum” but for now Farrell is taking center stage with his version of “The Penguin.”
Take a look at the new footage and get ready for the series to debut in 2024 on Max (the new streaming service name for HBO Max).
