Action star Vin Diesel in talks to join outer space adventure Guardians of the Galaxy…
Vin Diesel may be headed to the Marvel Universe, but it might not be the role he was rumored to take earlier this year at San Diego Comic Con.
During his panel for the upcoming film Riddick, Diesel was asked about his “vision” for an upcoming role in a Marvel film making reference to rumors that he was up for a role as “The Vision“—the android member of The Avengers.
At the time, Diesel just smiled and said to wait for a major announcement at the end of the month from Marvel, but that time has come and passed and he still hasn’t been signed for any roles in the upcoming films currently in production.
That is until Monday when Deadline.com reported that Diesel is in discussions to voice the role of Groot in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Diesel then posted a picture of Groot on his Facebook wall, but didn’t include any kind of caption or additional information.
The outer space adventure follows a team of misfit heroes including the giant man-tree named Groot, who eats wood for power to enhance and strengthen himself.
Now the only problem with the version of Groot from the comic books is the character is known for only saying one line—”I am Groot!”. Supposedly, Groot is saying many different things, but if someone doesn’t understand his languate they only hear the same catch phrase over and over again.
It’s hard to imagine Diesel signing on to just say three words over and over again, but he’s at least in talks to assume the role for the film that’s currently targeted for an August 1, 2014 release date.
The film helmed by director James Gunn will also star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Benicio Del Toro, Dave Bautista and Michael Rooker.
