Christian Bale didn’t just walk into Warner Bros knowing he was going to play Batman, he had to audition first and now that tape has surfaced…
Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy is looked upon as one of the greatest (if not the greatest) achievement in bringing super heroes to life on the big screen, and a major part of that was the willingness to cast Christian Bale in the lead role.
Bale had portrayed powerful characters in the past, but dawning the cape and cowl of Batman is a different animal all together.
So to make sure Bale was the right man for the job, Nolan and Warner Bros. had Bale undergo a screen test while wearing the Bat-suit originally worn by Val Kilmer in the film Batman Forever.
In the video, they also explain Bale’s choice to use an alternate voice for Batman in the film series.
