Michael Fassbender will pick up a treasonous sword as Macbeth in a new film based on the classic Shakespeare tragedy….
Even the most novice readers or students know William Shakespeare’s greatest works and their film adaptations.
Romeo and Juliet has been made and remade in several forms over the years as well as Hamlet, which was the early basis for the FX drama Sons of Anarchy.
But my personal favorite Shakespeare play is finally coming to life on the big screen and judging by the first trailer, it looks really well done.
Macbeth stars Michael Fassbender in the lead role as a general of Scotland who meets three witches with a prophetic look at the future where he will rule as king. Rather than wait for the crown, Macbeth decides to act on the revelation and kills his own king to sit on his throne now rather than later.
The play is an absolute classic and it appears Fassbender and his co-star Marion Cotillard (who you probably recognized from The Dark Knight Rises) seem to nail Macbeth and his treacherous wife Lady Macbeth.
Check out the first trailer for the movie and don’t be surprised if you hear a lot of Braveheart comparisons just based on the look and feel of this movie. Macbeth lands in select theaters on December 4.
