‘Westworld’ season one will come to an end on Sunday and the show runners promise that viewers will get a lot of questions answered…
‘Westworld’ season one comes to a close this Sunday night with a special 90-minute episode titled ‘The Bicameral Mind’ and it sounds like a lot of the mysteries will be solved.
Show runners Jonathan Nolan — who also directed the finale — and Lisa Joy has promised that many of the biggest questions surrounding ‘Westworld’ will be answered during the last episode of the season. Part of the appeal of ‘Westworld’ has been the puzzle pieces coming together throughout the season, but it only truly works when there’s a payoff at the end.
Rather than draw out a slew of cliffhangers for season two, Nolan says ‘Westworld’ will give a satisfying conclusion for all the viewers who have been clamoring for answers.
“We weren’t interested in spinning out mysteries with no answers in sight,” Nolan said. “Our goal is to tell an ambitious story in season-long chapters, each with a distinct feel and theme.”
While a great many answers will be revealed, there is one ‘Westworld’ secret that will remain that way until season two, which is expected to debut in early 2018.
“Most of the questions viewers have will be resolved in the final episodes, except for the most important one: What happens next,” Joy teased when talking about the season finale.
There have been a ton of theories floated around about ‘Westworld’ throughout the first nine episodes, some of which were answered during the penultimate episode that aired on Sunday night.
We learned that Bernard is not only a host (we learned that last week) but he was created in the spitting image of Arnold, the co-founder and co-creator of the park.
We learned that Delores was the host who killed him, although we still don’t know why.
We nearly confirmed that William is the Man in Black after Logan flashed a photo of his sister that happened to be the same picture picked up by Peter Abernathy in the current timeline. That means Logan and William’s adventure through ‘Westworld’ is likely happening 30 years earlier and that’s when Delores glitches and ultimately kills Arnold.
There’s still a lot more to figure out before ‘Westworld’ season one comes to a close so don’t miss a minute of the episode as it airs this Sunday night at 9pm ET on HBO with our extensive recap to follow shortly after!
