The long rumored sequel to ‘Zombieland’ is finally happening…
The 2009 cult classic ‘Zombieland’ is finally getting a sequel after gestating for years in the rumor mill that the horror/comedy would get a second movie starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin.
There’s been talk for quite some time that ‘Zombieland 2’ would happen but now the original writers on the film — Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese — have a little bit more juice in Hollywood after scripting a little film called ‘Deadpool’.
“That is breaking news that we’re on ‘Zombieland 2’ right now,” Reese said.
Wernick and Reese are also writing the ‘Deadpool’ sequel, but they revealed when speaking to ‘Geeking Out’ on AMC that they are officially working on ‘Zombieland 2’ and have already started presenting a story to Woody Harrelson.
“We’re sitting with Woody (Harrelson) tomorrow and gonna walk him through sort of some of the stuff we want to do,” Wernick added. “All the cast is pretty excited.”
The talk about ‘Zombieland 2’ started not long after the film became a breakout hit for Sony while grossing over $75 million at the U.S. box office on an estimated $23 million budget.
Now it appears ‘Zombieland 2’ is finally going to happen with the original writers on board and from the sound of things, everybody in the cast is ready to go as well.
