Get ready to believe again because X-Files is returning to FOX with original stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson on board…
After months of speculation, FOX officially announced on Tuesday that The X-Files would return with original co-stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson on board to star in the six-episode event series.
The original X-Files ran for nine seasons between 1993 and 2002 while also producing two spinoff movies as well.
Show creator Chris Carter will be in charge of the event series as well with Duchovny and Anderson reprising their roles as Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Skully.
“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” Carter said in a press release. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”
Production on the limited-event series will begin this summer although a debut date has not been announced as of yet.
X-Files remains a cult favorite with fans and it was hard to imagine the show would ever come back, but now it appears it’s time to start searching for little green men again with Mulder and Skully set to return.
