The “Yellowstone” universe continues to expand with creator Taylor Sheridan expected to feature more seasons of the upcoming prequel series “1923”…
The “Yellowstone” universe is only growing bigger.
With the upcoming prequel series “1923” already set for production, creator Taylor Sheridan is currently planning on expanding beyond his original vision for the limited series with two seasons rather than one that was initially planned. Sheridan is now hoping to expand to two seasons with eight episodes each with talks reportedly already happening with the cast to extend their deals beyond the first season.
“1923” continues to tell the origin story behind the Yellowstone-Dutton ranch — the largest ranch in the contiguous United States — that serves as the backdrop to the hugely popular “Yellowstone” series starring Kevin Costner. After a successful prequel series titled “1883,” that saw the Dutton family first travel to Montana where they began building their empire, the new installment will see construction on the ranch get underway during a turbulent time in the United States.
Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren are leading the new “Yellowstone” prequel with additional cast members including Timothy Dalton, James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton and Robert Patrick.
In addition to the upcoming “1923” series, Sheridan is also currently looking at future plans to continue telling the story behind the Dutton family with potential series set in the 1940’s and then in the 1960’s as well. Nothing is set in stone yet but Sheridan is reportedly exploring potential ideas for more “Yellowstone” prequels.
“Yellowstone” has remained a powerhouse for the Paramount Network ever since first debuting with the show continuing to serve as the highest rated show across cable for the past few seasons. “Yellowstone” season 5 is set to debut with a two-hour special on November 13, which will also serve as a lead into another Sheridan created series with “Tulsa King” starring Sylvester Stallone.
Another “Yellowstone” spinoff titled “6666,” which is based on a real working ranch based out of Texas, is also in the works at Paramount.
