The upcoming “Yellowstone” prequel starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren will be taking place a little earlier than expected, which means the show also has a new title…
The second “Yellowstone” prequel being developed by creator Taylor Sheridan has a new title and time period when the show will take place.
What was once announced as “1932” will now be “1923” with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren leading the cast for the limited event series that will document another phase of the Dutton family history following the immense success of “1883,” which wrapped up on the Paramount Network in early 2022.
The change was necessitated based on when the story needed to take place, which now focuses on the period just after the end of the first World War.
According to Paramount, “1923” focuses on the Dutton family’s next two generations as they struggle to survive historic drought, lawlessness and prohibition, and an epidemic of cattle theft; all battled beneath the cloud of Montana’s great depression, which preceded the nation by almost a decade.”
It’s still not clear what characters Ford and Mirren will be playing after Tim McGraw and Faith Hill played James and Margaret Dutton as they traveled west to establish the family’s empire in Montana following a perilous journey that ultimately cost them their daughter’s life in the process.
The new series now called “1923” will focus on the next generation of the Dutton family, which controls the largest ranch in the United States.
The series is expected to debut on the Paramount Network in December with the main “Yellowstone” series set to return for season five in November.
