Zoom will return to ‘The Flash’ this season but he will be the Black Flash this time around…
Barry Allen may have defeated Zoom at the end of ‘The Flash’ season 2 but he’s not done dealing with the villain just yet.
Following the conclusion of their battle last season, Barry watched Zoom — real name Hunter Zoloman — transform into a different kind of speedster — one comic book fans are all too familiar with.
Zoom has been transformed into the Black Flash, who is the Grim Reaper for speedsters, and he will come back to haunt Barry this season on ‘The Flash’.
In fact, the Black Flash won’t stop at terrorizing speedsters on ‘The Flash’ because he’s also slated to appear on other CW shows this season as well.
“He’s a classic character, and we have storylines on multiple shows that fit having him return,” show runner Andrew Kreisberg told said on Sunday. “There’s something so scary about him, even scarier than when he was just a man, because now he is the Grim Reaper, he is like the Devil. How do you stop the Devil?
“It presents an interesting challenge for the heroes of the respective shows in which he appears.”
Obviously, Barry is currently battling Savitar, the God of Speed’ on ‘The Flash’ while his old nemesis the Reverse Flash (Eobard Thawne) is wreaking havoc on ‘Legends of Tomorrow’.
So clearly the Black Flash has a few different options on who he’ll be going after when he returns later this season.
The only bad news is that Teddy Sears, who played Zoom last season, won’t likely reprise the role considering he’s currently occupied with a full time part on the new FOX series ’24: Legacy’, which debuts in February.
There’s always the chance that Tony Todd could still voice the character, however, after he was the man responsible for Zoom’s ominous words last season on ‘The Flash’.
