Joe Manganiello has officially landed the part of Deathstroke in the new ‘Batman’ movie from director and actor Ben Affleck….
Batman has a new film villain to face off against.
As first teased by Ben Affleck on Twitter just recently, Deathstroke — mercenary and master assassin — will oppose him in the new ‘Batman’ solo film he’s writing alongside DC chief Geoff Johns that he also plans to direct.
And now Deathstroke has a face behind the mask.
Joe Manganiello — best known for his role on ‘True Blood’ as well as ‘Magic Mike’ — has been cast as Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke for the new solo ‘Batman’ movie.
Geoff Johns confirmed the news on Thursday but didn’t say whether or not Deathstroke would make an appearance in the upcoming ‘Justice League’ movie due out in 2018. Given the fact that Affleck sent out at least some test footage of the Deathstroke character on film, it’s a solid bed that he will show up in some form during the film from director Zack Snyder.

As for Manganiello, he’s been a long rumored player to land the part of Deathstroke and seems like perfect casting for the role. Standing 6-foot-5, he will be an imposing character next to Affleck at 6-foot-4 because he typically towers over his co-stars.
There’s no word yet on when the solo ‘Batman’ movie will film or be released, but Affleck and Johns teamed up to work together on the script and if they’ve already cast the main villain in the movie, it’s likely shooting could start as early as 2017.
