If You Thought The Governor Was Bad, Wait Till Negan Shows Up on The Walking Dead

If you thought The Governor was bad in The Walking Dead wait till you get a load of Negan and he may be on your TV screens one day soon…

Robert Kirkman has created quite a sociopathic universe known to fans as The Walking Dead and while the TV show may be the biggest thing going on cable today, the entire series is still (at least loosely) based on his comic book of the same name.

The Walking Dead has won award after award for best ongoing comic book series and somehow the writing and story just keeps getting better and better.

For instance, following the demise of The Governor before issue No. 50 hit comic book stores, just about every fan of The Walking Dead had to imagine that even in this world where the undead roam the Earth that there couldn’t be a bigger maniac or psychopath alive. That was until Kirkman introduced a character named Negan almost 50 issues later.

Negan leads a group of survivors he called The Saviors and their job is to protect settlements in and around his home area. The price for protection is the groups have to give up a large portion of their supplies as well as sometimes their women and other worldly possessions for the right to call Negan their savior.

Needless to say when Negan comes face to face with Rick Grimes things get ugly, and one major character (still alive on the TV show) meets a gruesome end courtesy of his barbed-wire covered baseball bat he calls Lucille.

As a matter of fact, Negan’s story line is still ongoing in the pages of The Walking Dead right now in a run currently called ‘All Out War’ pitting his Saviors against the towns he’s supposed to protect (but in reality rules over them with an iron fist).

Negan makes The Governor look like a pussycat in comparison, so the big question now becomes will this evil, grinning, foul mouthed bastard ever make it to The Walking Dead TV show? From the sound of creator Robert Kirkman in an interview with EW.com, it certainly appears Negan will eventually make an appearance.

“Well, there was a lot of breathing room in the comics between them. Whether or not we have the same amount of breathing room, or if we do cut that down a little bit and bring him into the show a little early remains to be seen. But I definitely do think there needs to be some kind of space from a Governor into a Negan,” Kirkman explained.

“You have to have something of a break in there. So I wouldn’t expect him to be showing up — definitely not in season 4. I don’t know. I wouldn’t expect it too soon. But we are all very excited about the prospect of bringing that guy into the show. The plan is that we will see him eventually.”

So for those of you that are regular readers of the comic book of The Walking Dead, keep an eye on future casting decisions as we move forward in the series to see when exactly Negan might pop his head up. For those that don’t read the comics, trust me even if it’s season 6 or 7 before this guy shows up, it will be worth the wait.

Negan brings sociopath to a whole new level…
