Actor Paul Walker died as a result of a car accident in California on Saturday….
Paul Walker — best known for his roles in The Fast and the Furious franchise of films — died on Saturday after a car crash claimed his life in an accident that took place in Santa Clarita.
Walker was 40 years old.
According to numerous reports that began surfacing on Saturday and later confirmed by Walker’s reps, the actor was taking part in a charity event in the area for his work with Reach Out Worldwide when he took a ride with a friend in their car.
Walker was riding in a Porsche Carrera GT when the driver of the car lost control of the vehicle, and they slammed into a post or tree as the car burst into flames and both passengers lost their lives as a result of the accident.
A video that surfaced on TMZ just after the crash noted by an onlooker that ‘the car is in half, I can’t tell if anyone is in there’.
Hundreds upon hundreds of messages began pouring out on Twitter and Facebook after the tragic accident, but Walker’s reps took to his personal page to not only confirm the accident, but to let everyone know what exactly happened.
It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Walker was in the middle of production of ‘The Fast and the Furious 7‘, which was scheduled to move filming to Abu Dhabi in the coming weeks ahead of the movie’s July 2014 release date. Throughout his career, Walker starred in dozens of different projects most notably films such as Joy Ride, Varsity Blues and the Fast and the Furious series, where he found the most notable role of his career.
Just after news of the accident surfaced, Walker’s co-star and friend from the film Vin Diesel took to Twitter to pass along his condolences.
