‘The Batman’ has a new director after Ben Affleck bowed out of leading the movie just recently…
‘The Batman’ has found a new director.
Just days after Ben Affleck announced that he would no longer take the helm of the next stand alone Batman film, Warner Bros. has started early talks with Matt Reeves to take over as director on the highly anticipated project with plans for production to kick off before the end of the year.
Reeves is best known for his work on ‘Cloverfield’ as well ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ and the upcoming sequel ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’.
While Reeves is now expected to direct ‘The Batman’, Affleck will still have a major role in whatever happens in the movie considering he’s in the starring role not to mention he co-wrote the script with DC’s Geoff Johns.
There’s been no word on when ‘The Batman’ will be released but the new team expects to get into production in late 2017.
This will be the first solo ‘Batman’ movie since Christopher Nolan closed out his Dark Knight trilogy with ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ in 2012. As for Affleck’s portrayal as Batman, he’ll next appear as the Caped Crusader in ‘Justice League’ due out on November 17, 2017.
