Ben McKenzie Lands Lead Role on FOX’s Batman Prequel ‘Gotham’

There’s been speculation for months who would play Jim Gordon before he becomes commissioner to Gotham and friend to Batman and now we have our answer…

Ben McKenzie — best known for his roles in The O.C. and Southland — has landed the starring role in the upcoming Batman prequel series on FOX titled ‘Gotham‘.

The series will focus on Detective Jim Gordon as he leads investigations in Gotham while dealing with a rogue’s gallery of villains with several Batman notables expected to make an appearance on the show. There will also be a young Bruce Wayne cast for the series long before he puts on the cape and cowl of Batman.

The ‘Gotham’ pilot will be written by Bruno Heller (The Mentalist) and the show is expected to debut in the fall.

The new version of this tale will be a completely different origin story than the ones told in the comic books, but FOX executives have teased that you will definitely see some familiar faces scattered throughout the show.
