It’s not very often that two blockbuster movies open on the same day but Marvel and DC will battle it out in 2016 between two huge superhero franchises…
Batman vs. Superman won’t open until May 6, 2016 but they will share some pace on the first day of release as Captain America 3 is tentatively scheduled to land in theaters on the same day.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios is planning to unleash the third Captain America movie on May 6 going head to head with DC’s Batman vs. Superman.
Now obviously these dates are tentative and depending on filming, production and other delays that could change schedules, the release date could shift. This news could also be Marvel’s attempt at testing the waters going up against DC for a major movie release.
The next major Marvel movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier will open on April 4 before Guardians of the Galaxy opens later this year before ‘The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron’ opens in May 2015.
Batman vs. Superman is currently in production under the direction of Zack Snyder with Henry Cavill returning in the role of Superman while Ben Affleck will take over the mantle of Batman for the new movie.
