Robert Kirkman, the creator of ‘The Walking Dead’, officially has his second TV series after Cinemax picks up ‘Outcast’ for a full season order…
Cinemax has ordered 10-episodes for a first season of ‘Outcast’ based on the comic book of the same name from Robert Kirkman, who is best known as the creator of ‘The Walking Dead’.
HBO president Michael Lombardo made the announcement on Thursday with ‘Outcast’ joining a growing array of original programming on Cinemax including ‘The Knick’ and ‘Banshee’, which was also picked up for a fourth season this week.
‘Outcast’ is the story of a young man named Kyle Barnes, who has been plagued by demonic possessions his entire life and now with the help of Reverend Anderson, a pastor with more than a few personal demons of his own, he seeks to find answers and get back the life he lost. Kyle’s search could lead him to some rather unsettling answers that could have a massive impact on his life as well as life as we know it on Earth.
Patrick Fugit — best known for his roles in ‘Almost Famous’ and ‘Gone Girl’ — will play Barnes while Philip Glenister — best known for his role on ‘Life on Mars’ — will play Reverend Anderson, “a West Virginia evangelist who believes he is a soldier in God’s holy war against the forces of evil on Earth. An inveterate drinker and gambler, he doesn’t believe God intends people to sweat the small stuff.”
Gabriel Bateman — best known for his role on ‘Stalker’ — stars as Joshua Austin, “an eight-year-old who lives across town from Kyle. To his family’s dismay, he appears to be in the clutches of demonic possession, but there’s something very different about this possession and its connection to Kyle Barnes.”
Stay tuned for details on the launch date for ‘Outcast’ when it becomes available.
