The upcoming NBC series ‘Constantine’ has already undergone a shake up as lead actress Lucy Griffiths has exited the project….
‘Constantine’ is expected to air its pilot episode at San Diego Comic Con in less than two weeks, but the show just underwent a major shake up ahead of the debut.
Lucy Griffiths (True Blood) — who was playing Constantine’s main gal pal Liv — has left the series as the producers and writers have opted to go in a different direction with the series. Reading between the lines that means they didn’t get along very well and now they need to plan for a new strategy just a few months before the show launches.
‘Constantine’ is based on the comic book series ‘Hellblazer’ and starts Matt Ryan in the lead role as the demon hunting force of nature protecting the Earth from dark forces looking to invade and take over.
The series will now shift the female lead to a character from the comic books named Zed, although NBC hasn’t cast an actress to play the part as of yet. It’s expected any scenes filmed with Griffiths thus far will be erased from existence before reshoots are scheduled once they cast the actress playing Zed.
“Constantine’ will debut from NBC this fall. No word yet if the pilot will still air as scheduled at San Diego Comic Con in two weeks or not.
