Drea De Matteo Upgraded to Series Regular for ‘Sons of Anarchy’ Season 7

Expect to see a lot more of Wendy on the final season of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ after actress Drea De Matteo was upgraded this week to a series regular…

Drea De Matteo has been an on again, off again cast member of ‘Sons of Anarchy‘ since the debut season, but only in the last two years has she gotten any major screen time as she came back to town looking to score some Mommy time with her son Abel.

It appears her story line will pick up in the final season of the show as De Matteo has been upgraded to a series regular for season 7, which begins filming this summer prior to a September 2014 debut.

The news was first reported by TVLine.com.

De Matteo’s character Wendy became a major part of season 6 as she first worked with and then against Tara as she tried to pry her boys free from the grip of Jax’s mother Gemma and the explosive town of Charming. By season’s end, Wendy was off to rehab after slipping up on her sobriety and revealing to Abel that she was his real mother.

How she plays into the final season of Sons of Anarchy remains to be seen. She will likely be gunning for a shot at motherhood with Tara gone and Jax in free fall after losing his wife.

Season 7 — the final season of Sons of Anarchy — will debut later this year.
