‘Game of Thrones’ creator George RR Martin has released a new chapter to The Winds of Winter, which will serve as the sixth and penultimate chapter in the ‘Song of Ice and Fire’ saga….
While Game of Thrones is less than two weeks from debuting (yay!), author George RR Martin has decided to give his long suffering fans a tease of the new book ‘The Winds of Winter’, which will serve as the sixth book in his ‘Song of Ice and Fire’ series. The new book is not set to be released until 2015, but this newest chapter is at least a tease to hopefully tide readers over for a little while longer.
The new chapter is titled ‘Mercy’, which for those familiar with Martin’s books, it’s a character chapter focused on one person’s journey during the series.
Here are a few short lines from the new excerpt and then go to Martin’s site to read the rest:
She woke with a gasp, not knowing who she was, or where.
The smell of blood was heavy in her nostrils… or was that her nightmare, lingering? She had dreamed of wolves again, of running through some dark pine forest with a great pack at her hells, hard on the scent of prey.
Half-light filled the room, grey and gloomy. Shivering, she sat up in bed and ran a hand across her scalp. Stubble bristled against her palm. I need to shave before Izembaro sees. Mercy, I’m Mercy, and tonight I’ll be raped and murdered. Her true name was Mercedene, but Mercy was all anyone ever called her…
And as a reminder, Game of Thrones season 4 bows on April 6 at 9pm ET/PT on HBO
