The plan to do a Ghostbusters sequel has been in the works for years but now it seems an all female cast will replace the original crew with Saturday Night Live vets leading the way….
Remakes are all the rage in Hollywood these days and the latest will see some of the top women in comedy replace legends like Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd.
According to several sources — Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon will be leading the cast for the new ‘Ghostbusters’ movie directed by Paul Feig.
Feig directed McCarthy and Wiig in the 2011 smash hit ‘Bridesmaids’ as well as working with McCarthy on her film ‘The Heat’ in 2013.
Feig took to Twitter to all but confirm the casting news on Tuesday as well.

The new ‘Ghostbusters’ movie is a reboot/sequel from the original duo of films, which were released in 1984 and 1989 and remain two of the most popular and beloved movies of all time. There was talk for years about a third ‘Ghostbusters’ movie although Bill Murray was the one actor that never seemed on board with the idea, but following the passing of original cast member Harold Ramis, the remaining ‘Ghostbusters’ bowed out as well.
