Jared Leto has some big shoes to fill when he takes over the role of The Joker in Suicide Squad but he hopes to make two of the most famous portrayers of the character proud….
There’s still not much footage available of Jared Leto as the Joker in Suicide Squad — which opens in theaters on August 5, 2016 — but the Academy Award winning actor is already doing his best to make two previous iterations of the character proud of his portrayal.
Leto takes over the role as The Joker following an Oscar winning performance from Heath Ledger, who won his award posthumously for The Dark Knight following his death in 2008.
While other actors have tried their hand at playing The Joker, Jack Nicholson is the other actor who has famously portrayed the clown prince of crime in Tim Burton’s 1989 film Batman.
Well, Leto isn’t oblivious to the fact that he’s got a lot to live up to, but if you judge by his recent post on Instagram, he’s certainly going to do his best to make Ledger and Nicholson proud of his work as The Joker
Leto admitted after filming the role that he went into a very dark place psychologically to play The Joker and from the look of things he definitely did his best to envelop the part during filming.
Only time — and the release of the movie — will tell if Leto pulled off The Joker as well or at least on par with the two famed performances given by Ledger and Nicholson.
