There are still nine months to go until Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (December 18, 2015 to be exact) lands in theaters, but the Star Wars universe is just starting to heat up.
The next installment in the franchise, a spinoff movie from director Gareth Edwards starring Felicity Jones will officially open on December 16, 2016 and now it has a title as well:
Star Wars: Rogue One
Filming for the movie will start in London this Summer although there is still no word on what the basis for the movie will be.
As for the next installment in the main Star Wars franchise, Rian Johnson (Looper) will take the helm on that film both writing and directing.
Star Wars Episode VII doesn’t have a title yet, but it does have a release date. The movie will hit theaters on May 26, 2017.
Expect a lot more Star Wars news in the coming months as the Mouse House continues to flesh out ideas on more films and other projects being released in the next few years.
