In the ‘Supergirl’ recap, Kara teams up with Mon-El and gets an unexpected assist from the Guardian to go after Live Wire…

There’s an outbreak of superheroism in National City these days.
While Supergirl has been responsible for stopping several super villains and even a slew of aliens since she arrived in town, lately there have been plenty of people trying to help her out.
First there was James Olsen, who decided that he no longer wanted to be a bystander watching Supergirl save lives and he teamed up with his old pal Winn to create a super suit and become The Guardian.
Then after giving up his playboy ways, Mon-El decided he wanted to get into the superhero business alongside Kara so he could help people as well.
But what happens when a serious threat to National City — namely the electrifying Live Wire — gets out of prison and threatens the lives of anyone and everyone who steps in her path?
Will Supergirl’s new allies be a help or a hindrance?
Let’s recap the latest episode of ‘Supergirl’ titled ‘We Can Be Heroes’ to find out…
In Training
Kara has been working hard at getting Mon-El ready for his debut as a superhero in National City and outside of a cardboard cutout getting decapitated by a laser, he’s been doing a pretty good job thus far.
Meanwhile, the Guardian has been stopping robberies and leaving the crooks gift wrapped for the cops, but unfortunately his latest late night crime fighting effort got him shot in the arm. The latest altercation leaves Winn rattled and he says it’s time to tell Kara what’s been happening or he’s going to drop out of the operation.
And at the local prison, Live Wire is explaining all the ways she wants to electrocute her therapist when a guard breaks another convict out and together they unlock the super villainess from her prison cell.
The news that Live Wire is on the loose coupled with Kara gushing about her new team up with Mon-El prevents James from telling her the news that he’s actually the Guardian. And with a super villain now escaped from prison, Kara has her sights set on putting her back behind bars before she has the chance to hurt anyone else.
When the police station is attacked by some serious electricity, Supergirl and Mon-El spring into action to save the day. Unfortunately after they show up, Supergirl and Mon-El are greeted by two imposter Live Wire wannabe’s — both electrically charged but not the real deal.
As the fight ensues, Supergirl tells Mon-El to protect the police while she deals with the faux-Live Wire’s. When it looks like they are about to get the better of her, Mon-El can’t help but to step into save her while the Guardian shows up out of nowhere and ultimately saves the cops.
Except for one problem — the Live Wire twins end up firing one last bolt before escaping and it blasts the Guardian and one of the cops who Mon-El was supposed to be protecting. When Supergirl arrives to check on them, she removes the Guardian’s mask and reveals her friend James Olsen.
What Are You Fighting For?
Kara is clearly not happy that James has been masquerading around as the Guardian for weeks not to mention she’s clearly upset that everybody short of Mon-El knew about his secret second job and failed to tell her about it. To make matters worse, Kara dressed James down for doing a job that could ultimately get him killed because he doesn’t have the luxury of super powers like her or Mon-El.
In return, James fires back that Mon-El isn’t doing this for the sake of saving people — he’s doing it because he cares about her.
While Kara and James are arguing, Winn uncovers the prison break footage and the team at the DEO discovers that the two goons posing as a guard and a prisoner actually kidnapped Live Wire rather than helped her escape. Winn explains that it’s going to take him some time to decipher the electrical surges throughout the city to find where Live Wire has been taken but he’s actually keeping it a secret so he can tackle this problem with James so they can prove to Kara they’ve got what it takes to be heroes.
Mon-El overhears them plotting this excursion and he decides to tag along just in case the extra help is needed.
At the secret lair, a mad scientist has Live Wire chained up and he’s using her powers to create a series of super soldiers that he hopes to sell to the United States government. The two test subjects were just used as an example of what he could do and the attack on the police station was the perfect proving ground for the soldiers to go up against Supergirl as well.
When the Guardian and Mon-El show up to stop him, they deal with the super soldiers rather easily but then the doctor reveals that his first test subject was himself before blasting them both with his own electricity to render them unconscious.
Supergirl to the Rescue
Winn comes clean to Kara that he knew where Live Wire was all along and now the Guardian and Mon-El have been captured. At the secret lab, the mad scientist, who never actually got a name, declares that his first test subjects weren’t strong enough but James and Mon-El will do just fine to transform into super slave soldiers.
Thankfully, Kara shows up in the nick of time to dish out a beat down and save the day. She even frees Live Wire, which nearly backfires when she decides to go after her captors for nearly zapping her to death to harness her powers. Finally, Supergirl, Mon-El and the Guardian stop the two super soldiers before dealing with Live Wire.
Supergirl convinces Live Wire that she doesn’t have to kill the mad scientist but instead show some of her humanity by letting justice take its course. In exchange, Kara agrees to let Live Wire go free — at least temporarily — while she wrangles the scientist and his test subjects. Live Wire agrees and vows to return to fight another day while Supergirl wraps up the other bad guys.
Back at the DEO, Kara makes peace with James but says she still doesn’t agree with him trying to be a hero because it’s only going to lead to his own downfall. She also gives Mon-El a piece of her mind while accusing him of jumping into the hero business for all the wrong reasons.
Later that night, Mon-El shows up at Kara’s apartment and admits to having feelings for her while also revealing that he absolutely remembers that kiss he planted on her while he laid on his deathbed. Thanks to his overwhelming emotions, Mon-El just can’t help that he wanted to save Kara when she was in trouble, but clearly she doesn’t feel the same way about him so he’s committed to just being a good partner and an even better hero.
A high five seals the deal except Kara never got the chance to reveal if she actually had feelings for Mon-El or not…
The Martians Are Coming
The other story this week reintroduced M’gann M’orzz, who has been in the DEO lockup for weeks after it was revealed that she’s actually a White Martian. While inside her cell, M’gann feels a rush of mental energy before being thrown into perpetual nightmare that locks her in a coma with her life fading fast.
Alex checks out M’gann but says that her vitals are all solid yet fading despite nothing seemingly being wrong with her physically. She suggests that J’onn do the Martian mind meld with her to find out what’s actually going on.
While J’onn scoffs at the idea at first because the mind meld would give her an intimate look into his history as well, including the loss of his wife and child, he finally concedes and enters into the dream like state where she’s been locked.
Once he gets there, J’onn finds that M’gann has been reliving her betrayal of the White Martians while doing everything that she can to save the Green Martians. J’onn is finally able to snap her out of this look before they both wake up in the DEO hospital.
M’gann reveals to J’onn that she’s kept up a psychic block since arriving on Earth to keep her people from contacting her but this attack to lock her inside her own head was proof that they’ve broken through. In other words, the White Martians are alive and they are coming for her and everyone else on Earth.
‘Supergirl’ returns next Monday night at 8pm ET on the CW with a brand new episode as the White Martians arrive….
