One of the most anticipated films of this year is without a doubt Marvel’s new superhero blockbuster Fantastic Four. The comic book heroes have been saving the planet from evil since 1961 and this year, you get to see them on the big screen yet again! To celebrate its 6th August launch Ladbrokes have created a quiz to discover which Fantastic Four character you are.
IMDb lists 6 August 2015 as the day the film will officially be released in cinemas all over the UK, a decade after the last Fantastic Four film, which featured Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis was released. So in celebration, we’ve given a rundown of the five best Fantastic Four actors of all time.
Beau Weaver as Reed Richards/ Mr. Fantastic
Beau Weaver proves that you don’t need to be on the screen to deliver a great performance. His work as voice actor in the animated series, which ran from 1994 until 1996, made the stories of Marvel’s longest-running superhero team really come to life. His voice is perfect for the character but as a former radio moderator and TV narrator, Weaver will have had plenty of practice.
Jessica Alba as Sue Storm/ The Invisible Woman
The beautiful Jessica Alba joined the Fantastic Four in 2005, playing The Invisible Woman. Alba started her film career in 1994. She was only 13 years old when she starred in the movie Camp Nowhere. Now that she’s all grown up she’s been leading the sexy star lists and she’s even been nominated for a Golden Globe for her lead role in the TV series Dark Angel.
Toby Kebbell as Victor Domashev/ Dr. Doom
Every hero is only as good as the villain and who would have thought that a boy from Yorkshire would one day grow up to become the Fantastic Four’s arch-nemesis. Portraying the villain is always a difficult task but Toby Kebbell mastered it famously. Movie fans might recognise him from films such as War Horse, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes or Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
Chris Evans as Johnny Storm/ The Human Torch
Chris Evans really seems to enjoy being a Marvel superhero. He’s not only Captain America but also played The Human Torch in the 2005 Fantastic Four film adaptation. Evans brings the charismatic, funny, and fiery Johnny to life with his performance but maybe he didn’t even have to try very hard?
Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm/ The Thing
In 2000, Jamie Bell played the timid boy who wanted to dance: Billy Elliot. It’s hard to believe that the same actor is now playing The Thing in Marvel’s latest action-packed superhero movie. Bell worked closely with performance capture actor Andy Serkis, who is famous for having brought the creature Gollum to life in the Lord of the Rings movies.
Some of Hollywood’s finest actors have been portraying the Fantastic Four heroes over the years. Jamie Bell, however, must have undergone the biggest transformation. He was able to successfully portray a small, timid ballet dancer and has then taken it upon himself to test out the other end of the spectrum by becoming The Thing.
