Robert Kirkman, creator of ‘The Walking Dead’ says the TV show and comic will not end in the exact same way…

Robert Kirkman — creator of ‘The Walking Dead’ — was critical of ‘Game of Thrones’ author George R.R. Martin earlier this year for telling the show runners behind the TV show how his book series would end so the two stories would ultimately end the same way.
Well Kirkman doesn’t plan to follow Martin when it comes to his own creation because he says ‘The Walking Dead’ comic book will likely go on further than the show and the ending will not be the same.
Kirkman says he knows exactly how he plans to end ‘The Walking Dead’ comic book, but he’s not planning on giving away the secret for the TV series. Instead, Kirkman says he would cook up a new ending for the TV series alongside show runner Scott Gimple.
“I hope the show ends and the comic keeps going. The comic was the comic before the show and I try to maintain that. I know how I want to end ‘The Walking Dead’ so I can’t tell anyone because I don’t want it on the show before I get it in my comic so it’s tough,” Kirkman told “Geeking Out” on AMC.
“So if the show were to ever end, ever at any point, and the comic was still going, I would have to sit down with Scott (Gimple) and pretend I have no idea how to end it and then work with him to come up with a new ending. That’s kind of fun, too.”
While ‘The Walking Dead’ comic and TV show might ultimately have different endings, don’t expect either one to end any time soon.
‘The Walking Dead’ remains the highest rated show on cable television alongside ‘Game of Thrones’ on HBO and the comic has been one of the top selling books in the industry for the past decade.
‘The Walking Dead’ season 7 will kick off on AMC on Sunday, October 23 at 9pm ET.
