Robert Kirkman will add another comic book series to television with his exorcist themed possession story ‘Outcast’ coming to Cinemax….
The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has had a third comic book series optioned for a television show and the latest one hasn’t even been released yet!
The new book from Kirkman and Image Comics titled ‘Outcast’ won’t be released until 2014, but Cinemax has just won a bidding war to land the new drama for a TV production that will begin in the near future.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kirkman’s new show was given a large scale commitment from the cable network, with the series already receiving a script commitment from Cinemax.
The series, which will launch in comic book form in 2014, focuses on lead character Kyle Barnes, who has been plagued by demon possession since he was a young child, but now as he heads out into the world to search for answers, what he finds could be the catalyst to the end of the world.
This marks Kirkman’s fourth series picked up over the last few years with The Walking Dead leading the way as cable’s biggest hit while pulling in monster ratings week over week. Kirkman will also lead a new Walking Dead spin-off that will land on AMC in 2015, and his comic book Thief of Thieves has also been optioned as a potential series at AMC.
The new show will be headed up by Kirkman and David Alpert (The Walking Dead) as they look to complete scripts and hopefully get the first season optioned by Cinemax.
