A new series based on the character “Wonder Girl” with a Latina lead is currently in development at the CW…
The CW has another DC Comics based series in development.
The latest is based on the character “Wonder Girl” but not the version currently known from the comic book. Instead, this new series being developed “Queen of South” executive producer Dailyn Rodriguez and Berlandi Productions is based on a new take on the character who is actually expected to debut in 2021.
The lead character is named Yara Flor, a young Latina girl, who eventually becomes Wonder Girl. This particular version features a take on the longtime character that will be new to most Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl fans.
Yara Flor is a Latina Dreamer whose parents were an Amazon Warrior and a Brazilian River God. When she discovers that she’s Wonder Girl, she must use her newfound powers to fight the evil forces that would seek to destroy the world.
A first look at Yara Flor in the comics will debut in January and February 2021 as part of the “Future State: Wonder Woman” series at DC.
If “Wonder Girl” is picked up to series, the show would join a robust lineup of DC series already airing on the CW including “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Batwoman,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” “Stargirl” and the upcoming show “Superman and Lois.”
For now “Wonder Girl” remains in development as the CW looks to continue expanding its footprint in superhero television.
