X-Men: Days of Future Past — Peter Dinklage as Bolivar Trask, First Sentinel Pictures Surface

The next X-Men film titled Days of Future Past won’t hit theaters until July 18, 2014 but the studio is already promoting the highly anticipated film with a new website surrounding the evil Trask Industries, who will serve as the main antagonist in the next movie.

The founder, Bolivar Trask, is played by Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage and the new website found at www.Trask-Industries.com.

The site is set up as a literal history as it’s been rewritten after Trask created the militant Sentinels, who now take part in almost every major police action around the world. As witnessed by the re-imagined picture featuring the swearing in of President Ronald Reagan, the Sentinels have played a major part in peace keeping according to the website.

The history of the Sentinels is also given on the site where it lays out how the robotic monsters were created and then became an integral part of world history:

In 1973, Trask Industries introduced the first Sentinel production model, the Mark I. Bolivar Trask’s groundbreaking research in AI, robotics and autonomous ballistic systems laid the foundation for the world’s most capable anti-mutant defense system. Since the program’s inception, we’ve continued to advance our founder’s cause through eight additional generational upgrades and enhancements.

As we celebrate five decades of achievement, we also bid farewell to regular production of the Mark I and shift our efforts to full-time manufacturing of the Mark X — our first complete overhaul of the Sentinel line. These highly anticipated units will combine next-generation nanotechnology and bioweapon breakthroughs, promising an even brighter future for the human race.

From there Trask Industries started to target the next wave of human evolution known as mutants, and with new innovations the Sentinels have begun eradicating or neutralizing that threat one day at a time.

“The mutant threat is the defining issue of our time,” a statement attributed to Bolivar Trask on the site. “We can choose to stem the impending tide of extinction or we can stand by passively and allow it to wash away any remnants of our species.”

The site really does a good job of laying out the groundwork for what could be the biggest X-Men movie of all time. The storyline for the film is based around an iconic 1981 storyline in Uncanny X-Men written by Chris Claremont.

The story in the comics is about a dystopian future ruled by Sentinels after the X-Men failed to stop the assassination of Senator Robert Kelly (fans of the films will remember him from the first two movies). In this new future, Sentinels roam the streets and capture mutants, sending them to internment camps.

The version for films will be different in many ways that the source material, but the basic storyline remains the same with several actors that have appeared in the original X-Men trilogy as well as the more recent X-Men First Class playing parts in the new movie.

Hugh Jackman, Halle Barry, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and others will appear as the future and past storylines in the movie.

X-Men: Days of Future Past will be directed by Bryan Singer for the 2014 release.
